Noobie first set up - can't see library

So I had my Rasplex working a couple of years ago, simple set up, portable HDD with movies connected to the Pi. I have just uploaded the lastest version of Rasplex to my SD card, put it back in the Pi, connect the usb HDD to it, but it doesn’t see the HDD at all.

I’m confused by the very basic set up instructions on this site. It says I need Plex Media Server on my PC which I have anyway as I use Plex on my HTPC. But I don’t see why i need this if I’m just flashing the SD card with the latest version of Rasplex on the PC then putting it in the Pi.

I’m obviously missing a step here but don’t know what it is. BTW I use my Pi to watch movies via a mini projector using movies stored on the connected HDD. I’m not using any network connects, other then when I first set it up on the Pi and it asked me to connect a neywork cable for the update which I did.

So if someone could tell me the simple steps I need to take that would be great - there’s nothing I could find in the basic Wiki to help, not basic set up guides or anything.
Thanks

Rasplex is a Plex client and will only stream content from a Plex Media Server, across a network, you cannot connect an external drive and stream content from it, you never have been able to.

If you want this kind of portable player then I suggest you look at OpenELEC.

Ahh, that explains it, I’ve give openelec a try, thanks

Can you mark this as answered, thanks.
