How to Make Windows Plex App autoplay videos in a Library folder

Server Version#: 1.28.1.6104
Player Version#: 1.53.1.3225-c0bc6cc4

I am using the Windows Plex app to connect to my Plex media server.

When I go to any library, and click on a video, it plays the file, then stops.

This is despite the autoplay box being ticked in the video file settings.

This happens in Movies, custom libraries etc

The ONLY place where it seems to work is in the TV Programmes.

Below is a screenshot of a movie playing, and showing the settings.

You can see that AutoPlay is ticked.

But this WILL NOT play the next video in the list of movies.

Now, Movies is an example.

I have other custom libraries that do the same thing The Auto Play is ticked, but they do NOT auto play.

Note that I am not talking about playlists, or the queue.

Just when looking at a library and the files in it.

Thanks for any insight.

I haven’t been using folders inside Plex in ages. IIRC, Plex doesn’t consider a folder to be a playlist, therefore won’t automatically queue the next item in a folder for autoplay. That’s different if you’re watching some actual sequential media like a tv show, a collection or the content of a playlist.

Well, as you say, it does do it for TV shows, so something in the code is differentiating.

The fact that the auto play box is ticked in the libraries I mentioned, and yet it does not autoplay, is just terrible. It’s either a bug, that needs fixing. Or the interface settings are being ignored.

In my searching for information about this, I found references to being able to change the Auto Play setting, on mobile devices. In the Settings (cog) there is an Experience menu that has an option for Auto Play. That Experience menu is no where to be found in the Plex Windows application.

If this behaviour is not a surprise to general users, then the Plex developers probably need to know that something is broken
