How can I get Plex to play the next file in playlist or collection automatically?

How can I get Plex to play the following file automatically after the current one finishes? It’s rather annoying having to go back to the list and select the next file automatically.

Which Plex Client player are you using? What type of library? Generally there should be a main play button for the whole thing on a collection or playlist page/screen that will create a playqueue

Don’t click an item, click the playlist poster, or the play button in the upper right. But that will always start with the first item.

Kaelaria - Sadly that didn’t work.

I’m using Plex Media Server on the host PC which has my files which are a combination of downloaded and DVD rips - MP4, AVI and MKV formats on two external hard drives and I’m using Plex on LibreELEC on a Raspberry Pi 5. The playlist in question is a playlist of Doctor Who episodes in order. Nothing online at all.

So the Plex desktop player app for Linux, or HTPC, or the web app in browser?

I use Plex in Firefox on my PC to organise the files, but use Plex Media Server on Windows as the server, but I use the app as part of LibreELEC to playback the files, well, I use an unofficial build of Plex called PM4K For Plex (an installed LibreELEC repository) as Plex on it’s own as installed as a LibreELEC repository won’t work. But then again, a lot of repositories for LibreELEC don’t work…

I’ve never personally used that app. I’m not sure how it creates playqueues. It likely has an auto play setting somewhere. This is the forum topic about it. PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21)

The real thing plays normally. The issue is what you are running - not ‘plex’.

Any idea how to deal with it?

Run a normal release server

I would but the normal one doesn’t work.

it works well on Firefox on my PC…

If the official Plex app works, but this community project doesn’t then it is pretty clear that this is an issue with the community project. Please report it to the project’s maintainer at PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21) - #2070 by panni

Which PM4K version are you using? The one from the Kodi repository or my Don’t Panic repository? If the former, you’re probably on 0.7.6 (-rev2).

The version releasing this weekend (0.7.8) will change the default behaviour for playlists and when you play an item directly from a playlist, it should advance to the next one automatically. The current default action opens the item you clicked on, and if you play from there, no playqueue is created. In order to receive that version, you’ll need to use my repository, as the Kodi one takes ages to update.

The latest version downloaded from the repository via LibreELEC on Sunday… I didn’t know about the Don’t Panic repository. I’ll look into how to get that one thanks.

I would have used the official Plex app but sadly it doesn’t work - it installs on LibreELEC but it won’t load, hance having to use the other one. But if you know something about getting the official one working, I’m all ears… (but there seems to be a lot of stuff not working with LibreELEC

Which file do I get?

You just look at the first post at the install section and follow it: PM4K / PlexMod for Kodi (18, 19, 20, 21)

You’ll most likely install 0.7.7 then, as said, 0.7.8 will be released on the weekend and once you have set the repository up (and replaced your PM4K from the Kodi repository), it’ll automatically grab the update once it’s there.
