How to move Plex server to new computer when old computer died

I am not very computer savvy. I don’t understand a lot of the support I am reading. This is my first time on a Forum. I can’t undo settings or sign out on the old computer. My media is contained on an external hard drive. Is this salvagable? Should I simply give up?

If you can still salvage files from your old PC you could try to copy the server’s data directory over to your new server machine (that and some of the registry information).

As this is a Windows machine, you’ll need to look for C:\Users\<your Windows user name>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\.

Otherwise you’ll need to start over from scratch.

Thank you for answering me so quickly. I found a very helpful YouTube video. I have things up and running. I need to do a bit of clean up work still, but at least I don’t have to start from scratch
