HOW TO: not scan (ignore) a folder from library, BUT also don't delete its data!?

Here’s the set up. I am using a Synology NAS (I realize this was posted in the “Windows” section by error).

I have a Movies Library… that library contains 2 folders. .../media/movies and .../media/Old-Movies.

When I initiate a scan for the Movies Library, I want it to only scan .../media/movies and IGNORE .../media/Old-Movies.

I tried using .plexignore file. But if I ignore a folder, when the scan is initialized it deletes all the files (not the actual file, but the metadata) in the ignored folder from the plex server.

WHAT I WANT… is that the plex server KEEP all the movies in .../media/Old-Movies, but when I initialize a scan in the Movies Library, ONLY look for new additions in the .../media/movies folder.

IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Hi Andy,

I’m disappointed to hear this is not possible, but appreciate your helpful answer.
