You can’t rate on Android TV.
That’s what I was afraid of. Dumb.
Yep. Sadly Plex really have little interest in rating our own media. Bizarre when we are forced fed ratings and reviews in every client to the extent they allow us to choose IMDb/tvdb/Rotten tomatoes ratings.
Dare to suggest that our own personal ratings for music, movies and shows have any importance compared to what others think…Just don’t go there… it’s been done to death.
The only clients that do allow ratings are the mobile clients. Android and iOS allow ratings on a 10 star scale. No other client will pick that rating up accurately.
Damn you anyway .
I had just about gotten over this and now you have me seething again.
You actually can rate in the web client, as well as the Plex for Windows client. And the Android Mobile client, obviously as you mentioned.
What kills me even more about not being able to rate in the “Android TV” app is that it isn’t even a separate app from the mobile variant - it is the same app that detects the device type and renders differently…
I have been really disappointed in the Plex app for Android TV/Shield.
I try to report bugs but I don’t feel like I have gotten any responses.
I did also submit a feature request for this, if you cared to vote. Not like it will get any traction or go anywhere - I’m not @SwiftPanda16 that can mobilize entire communities and get feature requests picked up by the Plex team.
It’s why I said “accurately.”
You can rate 1 to 5 stars in the web client there is no half star option.
Plex should give consistency or remove the option from all clients.
What’s the point of the ability to rate 7/10 stars in the mobile app and the web app sees that as 3 or 4 stars and then not even consistently.
But as I said it’s all about what others think about your favourite track, episode or movie.
Just to add that I’m happier with Plex than I have ever been in the last 10 years. But I just wish someone somewhere realised it’s not about what some random person thinks about a movie.
I’m the opposite - I feel like Plex is headed in the wrong direction, consistently buggy, and ignores its users more than it ever has in the 8+ years I’ve used it.
Yeah I think I’m done now.
I rarely use any client other than Apple TV or iOS and now with spatial audio in infuse it’s my preferred client (via the Plex connection) for watching on the large screen.
Now I have seen how much the Emby mobile client has improved and how well infuse sync integrates it all, I may as well connect Infuse to Emby instead. Plus at least the Emby devs have acknowledged that spatial audio is a thing. It will take as long as it takes but at least Emby and indeed Jellyfin acknowledge stuff.
TL;DR
I retract the last paragraph of my previous post.
