Plex went through my porn collection and added a bunch of metadata that doesn’t apply to the films in question. Is there a way to remove this Plex-added metadata easily?
I would make a separate “other videos” library for that. ( don’t put them in same folder as movies) ti does not grab metadata ( unless embedded) for an “other videos” library
if you want to to keep them there you can unmatch from the ellipses menu on top right of preplay, but might be better to do a Fix match and user the personal media agent ( so it treats it just like it was in an other videos library)
There are two problems with this. First, it appears that I have to do it movie by movie, and my library has hundreds of movies. Secondly, it appears that Plex has erased all of the metadata that I had carefully curated for each file.
Is it lost forever? It seems like Flex is way too eager to overwrite artwork, descriptions, etc that I’d added to files, without giving me an easy way to undo it all.

I suppose BigWheel’s proposal #1 is the way to go for you.
- create a new library of type “other videos”
- if you have embedded metadata/posters in the files, make sure to enable local media assets for this library!
- add the folder with your videos
- go
… Is it lost forever?
Plex doesn’t overwrite any of your embedded metadata… whatever you put into the file will still be there.
