Manually added entries keep losing metadata

I have a folder where I add videos that don’t have any TV or Film metadata (stuff create myself), so Plex doesn’t find metadata for them. When I go in and edit the entry to add things like a title everything works fine and the video shows up with correct information in the Plex UI.

However, if I add another video to the directory, Plex forgets about all the metadata added to the videos that were already in that folder. I’m using the “padlock” which I assume is supposed to lock the metadata after I’ve entered it, but it doesn’t seem to work.

Am I missing something?

Is this folder connected to a separate library?
If so, set the primary metadata agent of this library to ‘Personal Media’.

The issue is, that none of the items in this folder is “matched” to a metadata agent. Which means that upon next scan, Plex tries again to match it against the default metadata agent. During this process, the item loses most of its manually added metadata.

Therefore: set the default metadata agent to ‘Personal Media’
or if that is not possible, use the ‘Match’ command to match the item manually to the ‘Personal Media’ agent.

So I need to move this folder into it’s own library?

Only if you don’t want to manually match each of those items to the Personal Media agent, before adding your metadata.
