How to reorder episodes in a tv show?

I have a show where thetvdb has an incorrect order for one of the seasons. How do I fix it? I tried to enter numbers in a “Sort Title” field, but it does not do anything. What else can be done? When I play episodes one after another one, it is important to have a correct order.

You can check if TheTVDb.com has an alternate order for that show (e.g. absolute order or DVD order) where the sequence is according to your liking. In that case you can select that sequence/order in the advanced tab of that tv show.

Otherwise… Plex does not support alternate orders to be defined by users. So your best shot will be to contribute the correct sequence/order to TheTVDb.com. That being said and knowing TheTVDb.com… there’s probably a hole lot of reasons, why they ordered the show the way they did and are unlikely to simply change it.

Can’t you just rename them? Name S01E01 to S01E02 and poof, it is now episode 2.

wrong topic?

If I rename them, there are other problems. Plex thinks that episode 10 is episode 2. It displays it as episode 2 and it will play second. If I put correct episode, the description will not match.

The order in thetvdb is incorrect for some reason too.

That’s the ‘Official’ Aired Order.

Typically, you remove the entire show - rename your files to TVDB’s listing - scan library, empty trash, clean bundles - then put the show back in the correct order.

If the ‘DVD’ order matches you can use that instead.
If it doesn’t - start renaming.

That actually works so infrequently - it’s hardly worth mentioning.
It is NEVER a good idea to rename/restructure things while Plex is watching.
Plex wants those items named and structured correctly from Jump Street.

You still have to do the dance, but PLEX has no idea what is IN the filem just what it is called.
