How to restore my admin account access and server?

My friend (waswillie) and I have had seperate Plex servers for years now and we have access to each other’s servers. His account somehow ended up as the admin on my server. He passed away recently and it was painful to see his account and server listed there every day, so I tried to remove it. I now don’t have access to my own server admin functions. I tried restoring a backup from April, but I guess that doesn’t touch user accounts. How can I restore my admin access to my own server? I cannot even access my server itself anymore, only waswillie’s.

As an added issue, this forum will only allow me to login using his account, I don’t have the option to log in as myself except in Plex itself.

I think I figured it out:

I signed out of his account instead of just switching and, when I signed into my account, I am now the home admin and can access my server and my admin functions.

In general, this procedure allows you to unlink a server from its plex.tv user account: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/
Which makes it possible to re-claim it afterwards with a different user account.

What may have happened in your case is that you have joined your friend’s Plex Home.
In which case you need to https://support.plex.tv/articles/203888038-how-do-i-leave-a-plex-home/
