Guys/Girls
I am not a super savvy computer person so try not to beat me up to bad with the lingo. Is there a fix for watching my movies in 7.1 surround versus the 5.1 PLEX puts it out for? I have a 7.1 setup and I’m not sure how to do a passthrough or if there is a way to do it.
Need help or advice thanks a lot.
Could you post details of your AV setup and what platform you’re running Plex on?
I have always had the best luck connecting the device(Apple, Roku, etc) directly to the A/V receiver with HDMI , and not to the TV itself. The ARC (Audio Return Channel) feature on many TV’s doesn’t always work as we expect, and often only returns a stereo signal, and if you’re lucky, 5.1 audio if the source is AC3 (Dolby Digital). It probably won’t work at all with other audio formats.
So, once you find and enable the settings in your app to enable audio passthrough, the 7.1 audio is almost guaranteed to work if the device is connected directly to the receiver, Hope that helps!
