I have seen a few threads about people writing scripts to share playlists between users, but in each case it appears that the scripts (python or PowerShell versions) only work for video playlists. In the case of the PowerShell version it was about 80% there but the user who wrote it just doesn’t have the time to re-visit and finish the audio playlist sharing.
I’m looking for a way to share audio playlists between users within a Plex server. Does anyone know any tools or scripts that will allow this to work?
Thanks for the reply. I should have been more clear. I can see the shared playlists from the Plex app, but the shared playlists don’t show up in Plexamp. I tried playing a track from a shared playlist in plex and it works fine, but when I went into Plexamp it doesn’t show it as a recently played playlist let alone showing the shared playlists.
Further, when you share playlists, it puts the user as a read only user where they cannot add to the playlist.
I haven’t yet had a chance to test if/how that’ll work with PlexAmp. I suspect the individualy shared items might show up in their own library (as they do in the other Plex apps).
This feature is not intended for joint playlist management. It’s you sharing your playlist with others.
The solution I’m looking for will let me copy the playlist from one user to another user on the same plex server. I saw tools that used python and powershell but I don’t believe they work for audio playlists.
This will allow the playlists to show up on the users plexamp account as well.
I see that you’re a moderator - this is a feature that should really be in the base platform for Plex rather than having to rely on 3rd party scripts.
In the meantime, if you or anyone knows of a script that can do what I’m asking I would appreciate it.
I thought WebTools no longer works with the latest version of Plex which as of today is 1.19.4.2865-4fa317f77. I read that all plugins were officially disabled until further notice. Are you saying that we can use WebTools now?
I don’t get how Export Tools will allow me to take a playlist that I have for my main Plex user and copy it over to another user on the system. That’s doing the opposite. I need to import it to a specific user.
