When I tried to search for this, I only found posts from 4-5 years ago, I’m hoping things have changed. This is what I’m trying to do.
I have a server located not in my home. I have two plex accounts, both with plex pass. (entirely different email addresses etc)
Lets call them: Admin account, and Playing account.
The server runs the Admin account, and has sharing set up to the Playing account. Works fine.
A child is getting a tablet for Christmas, and I went into the Playing account, and added them as a user Child, so I could restrict the content.
However, they have no libraries available to them.
In the post I found from years ago, the conversation spiraled out of control about bandwidth and other topics that aren’t of a concern here.
I don’t want to create a new plex account for each child, because they wouldn’t have plex pass that my main two accounts already have, and I’d have to pay per-device to activate. Which seems silly when I already have two paid plex accounts.
So the question is: Is there a way to have my plex server shared with my all users of my Playing account?
If not, I can’t be the only person who is in this situation, what kind of work arounds are people using?
(I’d also prefer NOT to use the admin account as the playing account, because right now I have it completely locked down where no one but myself has access to delete files etc, and I know you can set a PIN on the admin profile, but I’d just prefer not to be logged into the admin account anywhere.)
