So I’ve been using plex for alotta years. I have a couple thousand films and tv shows that take over 25tb.
Over that time my knowledge and preferences surrounding digital media has changed. (Don’t get me started on 265 being a thing now. I wish I had the time for THAT level of conversion lol)
I initially started plex and stripped out all subtitles and chapters and let plex handle it. That coupled with preview thumbnails has left my plex folder being huuuuge.
Trying to be forward thinking and I want to disable subtitle fetching, which would leave me with all my already generated subtitles. Wanted to also disable preview thumbnails (which I gather can be cleaned out) and disable chapter thumbnails which leaves me with those already there.
I figured the path of least resistance would be literally uninstall plex media server and delete the remnants, re install, and let her rip.
Before I do that I’m looking for a way to accomplish this without uninstalling. This way all the old can be gone, but I can keep my settings (apart from unticking thumbnails and the like of course)
Is this possible or to truly start from scratch do I need to uninstall? Will this require all kindsa mucking around on the client side or if the server has the same name, will I be good to go once it rebuilds the library?
