How to stop a Live TV stream with the ATV remote control?

For example, if I’m watching a TV show via the Plex app on the AppleTV, I’m wondering how I can stop it with the AppleTV remote? There is only a play/pause button on the remote, but this results in buffering in the background. When I start the same channel again later, nothing happens. I must first change the channel. I had a Logitech remote for a while where the stop button also worked. Hope someone knows advice. Thanks
