How to use plex amp with network streamer?

I used to listen to the music in my network streamer with plex because the interface is so much better than any other software. Now, curious to do the same with plex amp, I cannot find a way to stream the music with this app like I used to do with the plex amp.

Seems weird to me plex amp does not support chromecast stream for audio since this app is made for audio and hi-res.

It’s on the todo list. Just not available in this initial release.

Hope it gets added soon, Plex amp can really become a killer app for feeding files to network streamers!

I wasted a lot of time trying to figure this out too. I tried to find some statement or release notes about wifi but wasn’t sure of the support until I found this post. Frustrating.

Oh wow, it’s on the “to do list” since 2017… -.-

wow, thanks for the comment.

You can cast to Chromecast devices using the older version of PlexAmp. The new version is a rewrite of the app and does not have the Chromecast feature yet. It will be added in a future update. To be clear this is Specifically fo rchromecast.

If you are trying to cast to DLNA devices, that is not possible. I don’t know if that is planned either as no other Plex client supports using DLNA devices.

But that would be particularly sweet for music. As you could stream directly to your network receiver at full quality without the need for a for a screen to be on.

There’s a large thread about PlexAmp and Chromecast and I get that. But I’d like to see PlexAmp able to stream to DLNA speakers. I know no other Plex client has ever supported this but PlexAmp on the desktop is meaningless without broader support for networked speakers.

Yeah, I hear Chromecast, yeah I hear Sonos… but many of us (MANY MANY) have several networked speakers around are home that are not using those technologies. The common denominator tends to be they pretty much all fallback to DLNA. Yeah, I know there are issues with gapless etc… but give us the option to PlexAmp to our DLNA speakers without gapless. I’d happily suffer that shortcoming…
