HW Transcoding not working

Server Version#: 1.21.1.3876
Plex Media Server Logs_2021-01-12_22-24-18.zip (1.9 MB)

Hi Everybody

I have just purchased a plex pass to turn on the hardware transcoding for the H265 movie that I have.
My server have is composed by:

INTEL I7 6700
16GB RAM
Nvidia 3070

I have checked to enable the HW transcoding, but when I try to play a H265 4K (on a plex app on the Firestick or also on the server), The movie stop for 10 every 2 sec.
On the server I can see that the CPU is around 50% and the GPU around 3 or 4%.

I have try to restart the server but nothing works.

Any Help?

Thanks

Did you disable the 500 gpu on the intel processor? Also are you sure its hw transcoding? Whats in the container? Id be sure the gpu is disabled first. Man that is an overpowered video gpu;) with some old silicon. Also what version of firestick and what res to tv. Posting screenshot of dashboard may help.

I just updated my server from same exact same proc to an i3-10100, no video card. Altho i run linux.

HDR -> SDR tone mapping support is currently limited on Windows (see https://support.plex.tv/articles/hdr-to-sdr-tone-mapping/)

If you want smooth playback (with transcoding) of HDR content you’ll need to disable the tone mapping option in the settings although doing so will result in washed out colours. If you need to be able to transcode HDR content with tone mapping then your options would be to run PMS on a supported Linux platform or upgrade your CPU to something that could handle this on the CPU (it would need to be quite a beefy CPU).

Hi Everibody

The HDR tone mapping was the problem, When I just turn off that setting the movie have start to work smoth and play the movie like it shoud.

I Have seen in the support page that the conversion is only on the CPU and since it have 5 yeast I think it doesn’t meet the spec to resolve it.

Thanks again for the solution
