Is it me or when it comes to transcoding, hardware acceleration is more reliable than CPU transcoding?
For example, when a stream is stopped using CPU transcoding, in the Windows Task Manager I can see the Plex Transcoder process doesn’t finish immediately, in fact it can take several minutes to be finished.
This is specially painful when switching channels to watch Live TV cause you end up with many Plex Transcoder processes. Do you think I’m missing something?
I can’t be 100% sure, but that’s likely because Plex likes to transcode a certain amount and then pause and transcode a certain amount and pause… It will continue to transcode until this certain amount in reached… If you’re transcoding with a CPU, it’s less efficient and transcodes more slowly, never reaching this pre-transcoded amount, and a GPU can do it relatively quickly…
Like I said, I am not certain, but I am pretty sure that’s what’s happening…
