I deleted my database by accident. I have multiple backups, but when I restore them, the database I’m looking for is not there? My friends database is there but not my libraires. Is there a way to get it back? Or do I have to start from scratch?
What exactly do you mean by that?
Did you
- delete the database file (or even the whole Plex data folder)
- or did you delete one or several libraries in the Plex user interface?
If 1), you need to restore a backup of the plex data folder. If you made one. Backups which were made while Plex server was still running have usually an unusable/damaged primary database file. After restoring the Plex data folder, you need to additionally perform this procedure to get an intact database file: https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/
If 2), you only need to do this https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/
What I mean is the name of my database does not appear in the main menu on the left hand side.
The items in the side bar are libraries. Not databases.
When you say you deleted them by accident, how did you delete them?
OK, my bad. I deleted the main library (that had music, movies & tv shows in it) I deleted it from the windows desktop app. I’m not sure where it was at, I think it was in red. I deleted it because they were listed twice.
When I open PlexDash, My server reads: ???
In PlexAmp the source reads: ???
If you actually deleted files from the Plex data folder, and have no safety copy of that somewhere, then your data are lost
I have multiple copies of this file, but my library is missing after I swapped them into the local folder. I tried this on 2 different files.
If I have to start over, uninstall in windows and create a new plex library?
I uninstalled PMS. I deleted my local file. I downloaded the software. Logged in. I don’t see where I can add a new library. What am I missing?
Do I have to change something else?
OK, I think I fixed it. I had to delete my windows registry entry for Plex. I then copied my latest backup file back into local folder. Everything is now working. I did not lose any data.
