I have reinstalled Windows 2 times and I have installed and uninstalled Plex Media Server about 20 times now and I can’t get the Plex tab to show up in the bottom right tray even though my task manager says that it’s running. I’ve watched videos and read the threads, but nothing I do works! Is there someone that could please help, this is the third day of working on this and it’s about to drive me crazy! I have copied all of my files and my regkey. Just can’t get Plex to even get to the point to where I can copy the files over
I have no idea if it’s set up to run as a windows service. Am I supposed to do that manually? I thought Plex did that automatically.
It says the site can’t be reached.
I could never find where I was supposed to paste for overwrite so I just created a folder. in the Local apps
My husband, who is an IT guy, is doing a complete uninstall. Removing all past downloads and registry. Going to try again with a complete fresh install.
The fresh install actually made Plex show up in the tray, but once i transferred all my files over to replace and did regkey and rebooted it didn’t show up anymore.
Open the saved .reg file with a text editor.
Does it have a key named LocalAppDataPath in it?
And if so, to which drive letter and folder path is it pointing?
If this location doesn’t exist on your new Windows installation, Plex will immediately close itself.
Can you determine in which folder precisely the plex data are now residing?
Here is how the folder looks like by default.
If it is now in the same location for you, you can simply remove the key LocalAppDataPath from the registry.
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server
Careful! You need to put only C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ into the registry, if your plex data folder is actually located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server.
Ok so, My server name is working Plex is coming up and playing movie. One problem after transferring all my files i am still missing my libraries and movie pictures. Is there anything that I can do to fix this? is there one specific file or folder I should be concentrating on?
