Player Version#:1.37 (11125)
It used to work now it doesn’t. I have a widows 10 computer connected via ethernet cable. I am using an apple tv. I click on the server application but nothing happens. I have completely uninstalled application and reinstalled. Didn’t work. My macbook pro works and I can stream from that as my server but windows I am having no luck. I’ve checked crash reports and don’t really know what to do with those if those are supposed to help. I’ve also tried to run as administrator button even though Im on the admin account.
(it is in Settings - Server - General - ‘Show Advanced’ - “The path where local application data is stored”)
Do you remember changing this?
If you do, is the location you changed it to no longer available/existent?
If you cannot access the server in the web app, you’ll have to take a look into the Windows registry.
start regedit.exe
and navigate to the branch HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server
If you did not change the Plex data location, the key LocalAppDataPath should not exist.
If it however does exist, Plex will look for its data in the path that is stored there.
If the path is invalid (because the drive letter or folder name doesn’t exist), Plex will quit immediately.
To which location does it point to?
Does the location still exist?
Was it perhaps just renamed, so there might be a chance that the data are still usable?
If however the path is no longer in existence, you simply delete the key and reboot the machine.
That location still exists. That is where the short cut to the Plex Media Server short cut is. It was in a folder called “Plex Media Server” so I just now took it out and put it in the program folder instead to match perfectly with the path. Still didn’t work.
