Since the migration of my Plex Server on new OS, I cant choose a cover of a movie or something. There are no covers shown although the movie was correctly identified. And when I try to select a cover in my filesystem, I get an error “An error occurred while uploading the artwork”.
In the logs I found this entry:
ERROR - Got exception from request handler: boost::filesystem::create_directories: Permission denied [system:13]: “/var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Metadata/Movies/a/d24bfb20d6cd1cfba683f11057a481b4ac5b7ea.bundle/Uploads/posters”
But which permission is missing and for which user?
Plex runs on a linux mint OS under the default user “plex”. I can watch movies and play music… all content is available. Only the covers or posters are the problem.
This is in the Plex data folder.
Apparently there are a few files (and maybe folders) in there, which don’t have the correct permissions set on them.
It could be a remnant from your old server installation, or it could have been caused by running Plex server (temporarily) under a different user account than plex.
Thanks for your answer. I will check the permission under the plexmediaserver folder.
And the correct (for default) permissions under these try are full access for “plex” user?
