I Can't Justify A Monthly Subscription Without Proper Support

I would really love to buy the lifetime subscription to Plex in order to support development of Plex, but without some sort of support offered by the company, I can’t justify it. If Plex had a live chat support option, or even a ticket system, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

The users on this forum seem nice and helpful, but not all that active. And even if the forums were akin to some sort of amazing pseudo-support team, I still want a support option before I invest.

I agree with you. I wouldn’t feel too confident in investing in a subscription either. The Plex support system has degraded substantially. Especially around one of the key issue of not being able to watch an in progress DVR recording. There are several threads complaining about this bug and several Plex Team members responding with claims that they are looking into it and having no response or updates afterwards. Has Plex gotten too big; are they not big enough, or have they simply lost focus? Do they have the resources to fix these bugs, let alone provide transparency to divulge what they are doing to resolve it.

I haven’t used Plex on my iPhone in over 2 weeks, since TIDAL is no longer functional on that platform (I have a 3 month free trial I signed up for through Plex). I find the web browser difficult to use on a phone, so I decided to download TIDAL’s iOS app and have been using that.

It’s confusing because I’m really enjoying TIDAL. I initially was very impressed with how TIDAL integrated with Plex to add “missing” albums to my existing artists in my library, and I also enjoyed exploring new artists with the TIDAL source in Plex. Ultimately I found the Plex integration lacking things like suggested artists and other similar features - also Plex doesn’t update with new TIDAL stuff as often as I’d like and there appears to be no way to manually update. (Plex tidal integration)

So I’d like to keep TIDAL but it almost feels like it’s making me want to move away from Plex because they don’t work together well. But I have a massive library of music so I’m obviously going to keep using Plex. Mostly it just makes me not want to pay for Plex, be it for a monthly pass or the lifetime subscription. I haven’t decided if I want (and can afford) TIDAL past the trial period. I’m crossing my fingers that Plex improves TIDAL integration before then, but judging from comments in the forum, Im not overly optimistic.

… and you should feel lucky that you went for the monthly subscription.
We who have paid for the lifetime pass lost much more for this shameful level of support.
Even simple core features are not working consistently over platforms…

If I only bought a monthly subscription, would switch to Emby in less than a second.
But now I’m thinking twice about it, not to make the same mistake again.

A monthly subscription works out to be more than a lifetime one when you factor in time.

But you have the chance to unsubscribe before you spend too much for so little.
