To be honest, using Tidal through Plex has just encouraged me to go to tidal.com or the Tidal app and use that instead. I love the way that you can view missing albums for an artist and fill in the gaps in your own library, but Plex doesn’t quite integrate with Tidal as well as I’d like. I feel like I can’t really explore and use Tidal beyond the surface. And for some reason, Plex has the tracks out of order for some Tidal albums… I can’t listen to an album from start to finish unless I add it to a playlist and manually re-order the tracks.
When I navigate to tidal.com, I am presented with Suggested New Albums based on the tidal artists I’ve listened to, new tracks from artists that surprised me with how insightful Tidal’s matching algorithms are, even suggested playlists. If Plex could incorporate those three sections into it’s Tidal Home page, that would make the fit much more comfortable and make me want to just use Plex instead of switching back and forth between Tidal and Plex. An additional nice to have would be the "Because you listened to " sections - this is fantastic and helps me discover new music.
Also, it would be nice to have access to Discovery Radio in more apps - I can’t find it on desktop web Plex.
I understand that Plex can’t add new content from Tidal instantly but it still seems like it takes too long. Additionally, I find sometimes I have to search for an album through the search function after looking through the albums displayed on the artist page - why isn’t every available album on the artist page instead of being hidden behind a search-only route?
I’m currently subscribed to a 3-month trial of Tidal. If Plex manages to better integrate Tidal, I will seriously consider a paid ongoing subscription. But at the present time, I’m just being sold a separate streaming service because of the limitations of Plex / Tidal integration.
