In the plex media player app running on windows 10, HOW do you get it out of full screen mode? There are no obvious ways to do this; I can flip back and forth to TV mode but can’t get it out of full screen mode and back to a window that could allow me move the player over to a different monitor (I have 3). I feel like an idiot having to ask this but I can’t seem to find the answer.
Just click the arrows when on the home screen…
Thanks. That button successfully enters and exits TV mode but does nothing to exit full screen mode.
If I disconnect the display through windows display settings, the player returns to a window on one of the remaining monitors. This is the only way I have been able to make it work. What am I missing?
alt+enter perhaps?

drinehart, Thank you for this tip. Alt+enter certainly worked however here is some further info on my setup. I use a 32" 4k monitor (displayport 1.2) with a 20" display (DVI) right next to it in portrait (flipped) mode. I run the plex player on the 20" monitor.
In portrait mode, the app goes a little crazy (flickers etc) when alt+enter is pressed. It wants to do something but can’t
If I change the orientation to landscape it works perfectly fine. Clearly having the monitor in portrait mode is an issue. My drivers are up to date… card is Nvidia 980TI and I also use a second computer with an AMD R9 270 which behaves exactly the same way.
Seems like the plex app and portrait mode don’t get along… further comments? Thank you all.
There’s a possibility the window is out of full screen mode, but still sized to fill the screen.
Try double clicking in the title bar. Then see if you can drag/resize the window as desired.

Thanks FordGuy. Unfortunately, I only see the top bar if i switch the monitor to landscape mode. Everything works as it should when the 20" monitor is in landscape mode. When in portrait, it all breaks. I think this is a bug in the software as all other windows apps operate fine and can be minimized/maximized normally.
How do we report this to the Plex folks or are they watching??
So your 2nd monitor that you want to run PMP on is in portrait mode? Hmm. I don’t know if we’ve tested that scenario.
Yes it is. Attached is a picture of the setup. As it stands, I can’t move the player to the big screen if I wanted to.
32" and 20"
Maybe if you press F11?

F11 doesn’t do anything in portrait mode.
Alt + Enter?
Already tried that above. All these commands work perfectly in landscape mode but not in portrait. It’s definitely something in the software.
How did you get it into full screen mode? I can’t even get that. Full screen should change to TV Mode.
Edit:
Have you tried exiting out with alt+F4? Have you tried toggling the “Fullscreen” button?

If I disconnect the 20" display, the player will revert to a window on one of the remaining monitors. This is the only way to get it OUT of fullscreen mode. The fullscreen button makes the player go back and forth to TV mode successfully.
ALT+F4 exits the player without issue. Upon restart it’s fullscreen again. 90% of the time, this is how i want it to behave, but other times I’d like to reduce the player to a window but can’t.
Thanks.
The latest version of the Plex Player has solved the above issue. All the tips and tricks noted by others all work perfectly with the monitor in portrait mode. Thanks.
