No. That’s for the app only. It was necessary to put it out there because DSM doesn’t have a large storage area by default. I needed something persistent which had space so I chose to use the main volume.
To clean this up –
- Move all your media to new shared folders.
- Delete the Plex share (Control Panel - Shared Folders)
- Delete the Plex user (Control Panel - Users)
- Uninstall the package.
- Restart DSM
- open https://app.plex.tv → Settings - Authorized Devices - Server
- Again make certain your DiskStation server is removed.
- Install Plex on the DiskStation
- It will create the shared folder again and the plex user.
- Give it a minute to perform first-run initialization
- Open http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web
- Sign in and claim it.
- Skip over adding sections for now. Let’s get it initialized. You can create library sections in a moment.
For each media shared folder:
- Settings - Control Panel - Shared Folders
- EDIT the shared folder containing the media
- Permissions tab
- Give user
plexpermission to read it. - Save the changes.
After this is complete, return to Plex.
You can now start creating new Library sections – referencing your new shared folders.
Install the package. It will create a new Plex share and Plex user.
Here is the How-To.
