Sorry in advance if there is a thread already dedicated to this subject. Are there suggestions/recommendations to turn up my Plex experience?
It probably should be worded better (I’ll write that up and submit it to them).
All you need do is sign your username out and back in. Do this at your server (Settings - Server - General), in your browser, and here in the forum if it’s not already showing your ‘shiny plex pass’
Welcome!
You will find a few special features available to you.
- Latest Releases first
- Plex DVR
- Ability to request features
- The access to a large group of very smart and experienced users who really offer much help and assistance.
- There might be more to come as well
Enjoy
John
Might want to read the FAQs on Plex Pass.

3. Ability to request features
You seriously listed this as a perk of being a Pass investor? Come on John, you know as well as the rest of us how effective requesting features is. In fact, it’s no longer even listed as a perk on the Pass info… That’s been missing for a few months now. ![]()
to the OP: Having said that, though. What features are you going to use that are Pass only features? Did you plan to use sync? Plex Home and Managed Users? The misnamed “Sharing Restrictions”? Are you not wanting to pay for mobile client apps? Do you want to preview upcoming PMS releases?
Unless you know what features you are likely to use that are Pass only, you may have been better served to stay a Free user. Just saying…

@Brad1Smith, welcome!
Check out our features page for a look at all the features that come with a Plex Pass. Scroll down a bit and you can compare free vs. paid.
Thanks to all for your kind replies, I guess I should have worded it better as mentioned by @ChuckPa. I have read through all of the benefits on the free vs. paid, it’s what influenced me to purchase the pass. I have used the free version for a few years and with the pass purchase I not only wanted to show appreciation to the Dev’s for a great product, was seeking more of an insider’s experienced view from the pass community.
You don’t say what platform you are running PMS on but I’m going to guess it’s probably a Windows machine, as that’s what most people seem to be running. If you want a truly “insiders” view of Plex and Plex Pass usage, you need to check out this rather long thread: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/131308/cayars-setup-walk-through-and-some-tips-and-tricks#latest The OP of it is one of the mega power users, and he has lots of tips in it.
Take it in pieces, and work your way through it. Even if you run a different OS, there’s still a lot to gain from it. I run PMS on a high end NAS and use his conversion scripts to make my media as Direct Play friendly as possible, for example. It took some editing of some of the scripts, and you can see a link to my post about it in my signature. (Paths needed to be modified, etc.)
I love Plex, but I get really frustrated at the path the suite seems to be taking. Hence the negative sounding first reply I made. It seems that a lot of the things users have been asking for years to get just don’t seem to be of importance to the powers that direct Plex’s development.
There is a lot of knowledge to be gleaned from people here.
Don’t let my initial negativity color your opinion. Form your own, by reading the myriad posts in these forums. And word to the wise on the Feature Requests forum. You vote for features you would like to see by adding a “Like” to the first post of the thread. Don’t waste your time with +1’s or anything like that, as those aren’t counted. Also just because a feature has a few hundred votes (a thousand + in some cases) or is 3 or more years old shouldn’t come as a surprise. It’s just the way things are here.
