I really can't take it anymore, Plex is the definition of insanity squared

Dear developers, you’ve lost the bloody plot. Like most people hell bent on dark mission
statements and the drive to improve you’ve lost the raisons d’être. Your improvements
are not. You’ve broken the product and psychotically pursue it’s absolute destruction
through further “improvements” that don’t work or pointless. I’ve not come to plead, its mindless you are hell bent on destroying this software and you are almost there!

Many people who want to use this product don’t have clue about settings, (archaic on this software and insulting to users) networking, databases, and transcoding. They want an “appliance” which was first delivered but has now developed into insanity. A good piece of software is indistinguishable from an appliance. Do you understand that? I spent 129 American dollars on a beautiful frustration, ignorance, anger, hopelessness, and finally an epiphany. Your help files are not. Your FAQ is useless without software that responds to input and settings on the network. Your defiance of your subscribers needs are legendary and I wonder if you even have a game plan other than a list of tacked on shiny baubles that serve nothing outside your own programming hubris. I’m done with your seemingly senseless and directionless development (it would seem) and constant anger of having to “fxxk” with this product every time I use it in comparison to Emby which just works every time I open it. I paid for Emby and it seems money well spent, if not “as pretty”. It works like an appliance. My kids turn it on and it plays a movie. How refreshing!

The Emby backup software has now become the primary. The worst part in all of this is I’ve spent
nearly five years and 129 American dollars in constant anger having to constantly fix this product so my wife and kids can watch a movie and it is STILL BROKE. You’ve wasted my hard earned cash on taking something that did work and turned it into an IBM KLOC wet dream that rarely does what it was designed to do but fulfills the miles and miles pointless code and pretty buttons. It’s is a damned good thing you don’t build airplanes but then again you’d be out of business by default.

Works fine for me. Do you have any specific problems to discuss?

Works great for me, all features work, transcodes wonderfully and is always available when used. All my family members just select and play movies, no issues.

If you could list some specific issues there may be help available on these forums.

My Plex runs exactly like an appliance. I never touch it and it always serves me what I want. What issues are you having?

I’ve been using Plex since November and I’m very satisfied so far. How about speaking of specific issues rather than a massive, unhelpful rant saying essentially nothing! xD

I’ve been a happy Plex user for 3+ years, Ubuntu Linux version, Rokus on each TV, all wired gigabit. Lots of movies & TV shows ready to watch. MyHDHomerun tuner for OTA. It just works.

I am brand new to NAS and Plex. I installed it over Christmas and moved my whole library of media to it. I have had no issues and update via Plex Pass the beta versions too. Have not had one single issue on my home network, Apple TV, iPhone and iPad. Also no issues when outside my local network. No software is perfect and no company but personally I have been very pleased.

Wait a few months after a few updates start breaking things. I was a new happy user for over a year until updates started breaking it in 2018. Each and every time I opened it I get play back vid errors, sound sync errors, server not found etc. I’d fix it each and every time. It is now 2022 and I’m bloody tired of fixing it each and every time I open it. And yes the computer and software is kept current. I fixed it again yesterday and I’ll see how long it lasts before it throws another playback error. And yes I know what I’m doing as you’ll see this is most probably my first post here since 2017 after buying my perpetual premium license. I like the product too, I’m bloody sick of it tanking when my kids goes to play a movie.

I’ve been a Plex user since 2017 and purchased my premium license soon after installing. Mine “just” worked for over a year and then updates started breaking it. Every time I opened it there was a new update and something different broke. I fixed it again yesterday. Completely, I’ll see how long it lasts. Thanks for your confidence in the product, but that is not lacking, it’s performance is.

Thanks for your offer. I did fix it again, completely yesterday and I’ll see how long it lasts. I actually migrated it to a newer computer, newer o/s and reinstalled clean all media on a purpose built server which amounts to about 25TB.

Thanks for the offer, but no thank you. It was a rant and much overdue. I fixed it and hopefully it will go like the first year with no problems. After the first year with all the updates came the transcoding issues which I never had with the back up Emby. They changed something in the code that caused continuous problems on my install/equipment. I hope you continue to enjoy it.

What does your install look like? What platform is your server? What clients are having issues? Just curious.
Have you thought about deleting PMS & doing a fresh install starting from scratch?

Which clients are you using? Why don’t you just stop updating if you have something that’s working?

They basically made the app look nicer but it’s broken. Downloads are terrible compared to the old “sync” feature. Things don’t transcode in the background anymore and then queue up for download. Oh well.
