I want to add names to the CDs of a multiCD-BOX and not Disk1, Disc2, …
Some CD-BOXes consist of CD’s with different names indicating the sort of tracks on that CD.
Example: Elton John - Jewel Box:
The 8CD box set contains the following discs:
Discs 1 & 2: Deep Cuts – Elton John’s personally chosen favorites.
Discs 3, 4 and 5: Rarities 1965 -1971 – The much sought-after early demos from the 60s & 70s, which served as blueprints for the later collaboration between Elton John & Bernie Taupin
Discs 6 & 7: B Sides 1976-2005 – B-sides of singles from the period 1976 and 2005
Disc 8: And This Is Me . . . – The soundtrack to Elton John’s biography Me. Compiled from the tracks Elton writes about in this biography.

If this functionality doesn’t exist in Plex, can it be added? Or is there an easy work around?

Plex can’t currently do this. You may want to add your vote to this feature request:
Non-numerical labels for discs

Plex would indeed need to support the TSST aka “Disc Subtitle”/“Set Subtitle” tag.

You can tag that field with most tag editors (beets, mp3tag, Yate, kid3, etc), but not a lot of other music servers/players support it, although Kodi and Navidrome do. And possibly Roon too?
