Multi Disc Album Labels

I have many albums that are “sets” with multiple CDs. Ex: Beethoven Complete Works, 100CD box set. Or StarWars Sountrack 10CD set. These CD’s have titles. Ex: Disc 1|Symphonies, or Disc 18|String Quartets… or Disc 1: Return of the Jedi…

Currently, these have all been properly ID3 tagged. Plex separates the discs according to the disc number id3 tag, however it does not read and use the disc subtitle tag to label accordingly. Instead, it just displays the disc number.

So I’m wondering if there is any way to alter the code to use the disc subtitle tag instead of the disc number tag for the actual label plex displays.

I’m afraid not. There are several threads asking for more thorough support of ID3 tags in Plex. I didn’t know about this one, but it certainly would be a nice one to have.

The sheer number of very popular requests that haven’t been addressed after years of upvotes really makes me wish there were more aspects of this that were open source.
