Icons for Media Folders

Would it be possible to add different icons for the media folders?

 

If I have movies on 4 drives, I'd like to be able to make comments to each of the media folders as well as have different Icons for each. Especially for the kids movies- just something toonish/fun.

 

Something to possibly look at in the future.

There is a manual method to do this (though it would be great if at some point Plex supported it directly). If interested you can find information on how to do it in the following thread. It's pretty simple to do.

I would also like to see this on an update someday.

We should be able to choose/add an icon for this in PMS the same way we do for adding our cover art and backdrops.

THanks Pruitt- I tried the guide and I'm not sure if something changed in the latest update but when I open the DB in SQlite and click on the Library Sections- nothing populates on the right side window. I'm sure I'll figure out some work around but making it easier on the user would be much more beneficial. :)

I am not seeing it updated in the Plex for Windows 8, Windows Phone or iOS apps.

Yes this works for DLNA, sammy and android as well.... Not sure about the apps you mention though

o and roku

Yup my windows phone and windows 8 clients do not show the new icons, Now TV and Android do.

Yea I am suprised that this isn't built in. It should be fairly simple to implement.

Update the sections to refresh the updated icons.

Any other sources for icons besides http://community.mediabrowser.tv/permalinks/1436/xzener-s-fanart-collection? I'm looking for a Magic icon or Korean Drama/Movies icons.

edit: anyone knows the icon size that the server is using?

They also work on all the Roku's. That is what I use them with. I know they worked for Shared Roku's as well, as several of my friends have Roku's, and I've seen them work on their remote accounts personally.

This feature has recently been added to all windows apps. WP8 and Plex for Win8 all support custom icons now. :)

Pity we're still waiting for the Plex team to add this functionality back into Plex Web, it used to be in Plex Media Manager for OSX, can't be that difficult, as we can already change posters.

Does anyone from the Plex team even read these posts?

I have tried the manual method but it corrupts my database, so given up.

The icons seem out of kilter with the rest of the design to me - they look rough and unfinished whereas the rest of the interface is sharp and modern!

The plex team spends a lot of time on these forums. They don't post often because the would get hammered with people directly requesting things, complaining about things they want or accusing them of not meeting deadlines that were never promised. Thats why us plex ninjas are here.

I will file an internal request for this but no guarantees on when it will come through.

Thanks for the reply, a simple yes would have sufficed, not particularly bothered that they don't respond, wouldn't expect them to really, just wanted to know.
