RARFlix can do this, kind of. It allows you to look at your now playing, and sync your video to the other person watching from your library. I've done this with my BFF on the other side of the country a couple times - watching the same movie at the same point and gabbing about it in Google Hangouts is pretty nifty.
No included automation, and not exactly the feature you've indicated... but cool none the less and somewhat in the area of what you're requesting.

Thanks David!
I hope the Plex team sees this and decided to look into it, would be a good PlexPass feature.
I have the same problem as you, me being in Florida & my friend over in California.
Yeah I'd like to see it as well, it's neat. The Xbox 360 used to have watch parties in Netflix - not sure if they still do. My friend and I used to do that as well. It's not in the XBox One unfortunately, which would be especially cool with the kinect.

If I find anything new I'll update it in this thread.
Glad I'm not the only person who thinks this is a cool idea.
You should post this in the feature request forum. It’s more likely to be seen by other users and that’s the official way to make feature requests. This forum is specifically for developers using the Plex framework
