If you were building a new Plex server today

As the title goes, if you were building yourself a new plex server today what spec, cpu and mobo, would you choose?

I currently use a Dell T110 II with a Xeon 1220 v2, a reasonable 6700 passmark with a TDP of 69W.

I want to put together a new machines, the general consensus seem to be to aim for direct play rather than rely on transcode, but a little power in reserve for transcoding would be nice. I also have some family that access my media over the internet. 69w also seems a little high these days so its always nice to save a little money on electricity of possible.

I’ve got an i7-2600 laying around but at 8200m passmark and a TDP of 95w thats probably not a sensible option.

What are your thoughts?

Add a P2000 graphics card to that in case you have to transcode and you will be golden.
