I’m going mad, I do not know when and why, but every day I’m finding plex server stopped.
It’s running on a dedicated mini PC with windows 11 with 12GB RAM and SSD.
I’m able to watch movies in the evening and sometimes even during the next day, but almost every day I’m finding the plex server closed (only plex, not the machine).
If the machine restarts, the plex server is autostarted.
What is driving me crazy is that there is absolutely no error left by plex in windows event viewer, and I’m not able to find anything in plex logs.
Could someone help me, for the beginning to tell me where exactly to look for the crash reasons in the plex logs?
Next time it happens and you relaunch plex please wait 5 minutes, capture the logs and then let us known what time you restarted Plex when you upload the logs
I haven’t changed anything in my platform configuration. If there were permission changes, they were made by PMS. Shares were created using Synology File Manager 2-3? years ago, and these shares have ‘Everyone’ equivalent permissions set for the User that’s logged into the server. The User account has Administrator-Level ‘Full Access’ on the NAS.
Server Version#: Windows 1.32.6.7557 (changed to this stable version because the previous 1.32.7.7571 have a bad ssl certificate for access from outside)
Player Version#: Android 10.0.0.4149
I’ve found again my plex server down, here are the logs:
Unfortunately I do not have any idea how to “catch” the moment of a crash. I could only say that most probably between 5 hours before the logs were captured and several minutes before the logs were captured (because about 5 hours before the logs were captured I’ve seen the server up).
Server never crashed when watching a movie, so…
Not sure if it’s preferred for me to start a new thread or jump into this one since it may be related.
I’m also having similar issues with PMS crashing every night after working perfectly for years. It doesn’t crash during use but every morning when I wake up, I go to the computer and when I hover over the icon it vanishes and I have to restart the PMS. Crashes are occuring between 12-8am EST. Sorry I can’t be more specific since it crashes while I’m snoozing…
Nothing has changed in my setup other than updating both PMS and Windows normally. PMS (1.32.6.7557-1cf77d501) runs on Windows 10 v 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3448) with media stored on a Synology NAS. GMerchy Plex Media Server Logs_2023-10-03_11-45-22.zip (3.2 MB)
Just to be safe, I double-checked that hibernate and sleep were disabled.
I appreciate any insight or suggestions to resolve this.
@dbirch I turned off logging until I noticed the PMS stopped. It always stops between midnight (when I go to bed) and about 9am EST (when I turn on TV and see it can’t find my PMS).
I can turn it off again and on after a crash tomorrow morning but I think it’ll be about the same timeframe as the current logs.
Please leave debug logging on at all times, please do NOT enable verbose logging. After the next crash please note the time that the server gets rebooted, wait 5 minutes and capture the debug logs.
@dbirch G:\ is a local drive. Verbose logging isn’t turned on. The server does not reboot itself, only plex server is stopped and that is my main problem, I have no clue, there is no trace neither in event viewer or in plex logs how to find when the plex server was closed and why.
Thank you very much,
I don’t know anything, but after the last Plex update a few days ago it keeps closing every few hours for me for no reason whatsoever. I downgraded and hoping that’ll fix it.
