I'm very confused by Plex.

I just purchased a Plex pass with the expectation of being able to watch and record some free TV channels as is claimed. I see absolutely no way to add any such channels.

My Plex is installed on a WD MyCloud drive back home in England. I’m now in Taiwan. I’m accessing Plex via an iPad and I can watch the movies I have on my drive and that is it.

If I go to channels in the iOS app menu it says, “Oops, it seems that you don’t have any channels yet.”

Hint - You can add channels using the Plex web app.

I don’t seem to have the Plex web app or I can’t find it. Help please.

You can access the Plex Web app by opening a browser and going to this URL, https://plex.tv/web

You can install ‘Channels’ (plug-in modules) which allow you to stream from free IPTV sources on the internet.

If you have a Silicon Dust TV tuner, you can record television programs with the DVR feature. Is this what you are thinking of?

Are you thinking of the DVR function? If so, the “Channels” is not the section you need to be in. Also, for the DVR function (found under the server settings} you will need a tuner such as the HDHomerun Prime with a cable card inserted.

The “Channels” are video selections obtained by specific providers like the History Channel, FreeForm, PBS etc… that you have the option of making “active” so that show up as a selection when you select the Channels category.
