imdb.com rating as an alternative to the stars

I prefer Rotten Tomatoe ratings to IMDB. Especially the meta-reviews.

no, not drop it, it's personal ratings. Plex just need to add a seperate field for official ratings additionally to Star personal ratings (along with the studio logo, etc...)

I the meantime, since I use XBMC importer agents, a nice feature now exists to show IMDB/TMDB ratings additionally to personal ratings:

Also, Chrome extension Transmogrify for Plex is really doing it exactly how it should be built-in but only in Plex/Web. Just wish this would be shown on other clients...

Hmm, never could get Rotten Tomatoe ratings to display in the preplay screens... is this only possible with the extension or am I missing something in Plex?

My issue is not so much which ratings are shown (IMDB, TMDB, RT) but just to have numbers instead of stars. I can understand keeping the stars for personal ratings.

However, I do feel the need for a numerical system.

Regarding voting bots - agreed, it does happen, but overall the ratings do generally give a fair representation of the calibre of the movie.

Numerical IMDB ratings is a feature I miss from the OSXBMC/Plex 8 days.  The star system that replaced it does not provide useful feedback.

On IMDB, I've appreciated the significant quality increases as you move within the rather small 7.0-9.0 range.  The numerical rating is a very useful way to distinguish titles when my personal range of interest is typically only 2 points out of 10 - the star rating does not have sufficient resolution to tell me where a movie falls within this equivalent range, where, for example, it's relevant to see if a movie is sitting at lower 7.1 or an upper 7.8.

I typically end up leaving Plex to look up films directly on IMDB or use the IMDB app if my phone/iPad is handy, which defeats the purpose of a server designed to aggregate metadata for me.

I would love to see agents being permitted to supply PMS with numerical ratings information and have it displayed instead of the star system.

Any response from Plex devs on this? Shouldn't this be an easy fix? IMDB does not have a monopoly on using a 1-10 scale! Plex takes a 1-10 rating by default and converts it into an ugly 5 star system. Just give us the option (and we'll let these third party agents do the rest to give us greater plexibility).

Another great thing (don't know if it is possible) would be to get our ratings with a user / password from imdb  (I have rated a lot of films there !)

Thanks for the link wattsy

But it seams a bit complicated, you have to export your grades to csv then import them into another service that will then import it to PLEX see below:

I assume your are talking about your personal IMDB ratings.

Well, I did this via the trakt plugin in the Unsupported Appstore:

(it only imported like 95% of my ratings though - my guess is, that trakt doesn't know all movies/series I voted for)

1. Export your ratings form IMDB

    - go into your profile -> then into your ratings -> scroll to the bottom -> click "export this list" under the page selector

2. login/register at http://trakt.tv

3. import the csv file you got from imdb to trakt.tv with this tool: https://github.com/damienhaynes/TraktRater/releases

    - this only works under Windows

    - I found the programm through this discussion: http://support.trakt.tv/forums/188762-general/suggestions/3901313-import-from-imdb

maybe the other suggestions are useful for other platforms

4. Install the Unsupported Appstore

5. In the channel of the Unsupported Appstore in plex: Install the plugin/channel for trakt

6. After setting up trakt (took me some time...don't know why anymore though <_< ) you can sync the uploaded ratings from trakt with your plex library...that takes some time...et voilá - all done!

I hope it helps...I did this a time ago and just wrote that from the top of my head...if I forgot something, just ask :D

the feature I would like would import your imdb grades when you update your movie library for example ... would that need a plugin devoloppement then, is it even doable ?

+1

+1 for IMDB rating :)

+1   IMBD ratings would be a phenomenal addition to an already great piece of software.

But I guess you will still have the crappy star ratings, just based on your own evaluations. Or have I missed the point?

I agree 100%. Couldn't have said it better.

Thank you this does still work. Need to install extension in chrome then go into options pick info want to see. Also if using an extention like Zenmate to change where looks like you are coming from, privicy etc need to put in your servers local ip and the port (which is listed in the plex settings)

I like it. Thank you good find.

a big +1 from me

In addition to the ratings data IMDB and RT offer, information from these sources on actors directors etc. (bios, previous work..) would massively improve the results shown when selecting them on the show / film details page - at the moment they're pretty useless!

+1 from me, don't mind if it is RT or IMDB, the key thing is to have them in the movie metadata to a) be filterable and b) show as a number in the movie / tv show view

+1.. want this for iOS

+1 imdb or rotten tomatoes ratings
