I'd like "imdb.com" rating as an alternative to the stars. Perhaps as a hover effect the rating is displayed as a number.
Makes totally sense.
+1
I like this idea too.
+1 - great idea
only problem is that IMDB is sometimes being hijacked by votebots and other kinds of fake votes..
also, IMDB rating doesn't necessary reflect what qualities that makes the movie good / bad.
combining the rating the RottenTomatoes (like on the Boxee) might level out the ill votes.
I support the original post though: IMDB ratings (+ more rating sites) would be awesome.

Can’t argue, with user ratings overwriting this, it’s useless the way it is now.
I would prefer a lot more to simply see the /10 rating somewhere separate on detail screen.
The 5 stars system is great for changeable user ratings but as fetched metadata from IMDB or TMDB, not precise enough plus plex/web and chromecast content mirroring are rounding up (no half stars) so that makes it even more useless information.

I like this as well, right now I'm constantly using my IMDB app on Android. That star rating really doesn't make any sense.
I agree, the current solution is not good at all imo. I’d love not to have to go to imdb or RT to check ratings. I do admit that ratings are important for me when prioritizing between films. Right now other clients handle this better.
+1 for IMDB rating
The current star method is a waste of time. It tells you nothing and you end up having to check imdb or tmdb to get a better idea. I would have hoped it to be a simple fix.
Perhaps someone can create a better skin?

no, not drop it, it's personal ratings. Plex just need to add a seperate field for official ratings additionally to Star personal ratings (along with the studio logo, etc...)
I the meantime, since I use XBMC importer agents, a nice feature now exists to show IMDB/TMDB ratings additionally to personal ratings:
Also, Chrome extension Transmogrify for Plex is really doing it exactly how it should be built-in but only in Plex/Web. Just wish this would be shown on other clients...
+1 for this

Seems this is now broken in new plex web? I can´t get it to work.
Can´t understand more people dont realize the ratings need a major overhaul and has been for a very long time. Would also be interested to know if the XMBC importer as mentioned above would work for this without actually importing anything, but more updating current library...

You're talking about the rating at beginning of description?
The NFO importer main purpose is to actually import info from nfo files so I doubt this would work without actual NFO files.
"Someone" would have to use this concept from it and create a custom agent... You can ask around in the nfo importer tread, we never know.
***I LOVE this work around (let's be honest, this is another work around for a missing feature from Plex) and it is shown on all client (only Roku doesn't show the star character but still shows the rating).
Would really love to see a better vote info screen.
Imdb - rotten tomatoes - metacritic would be all good (maybe with an option to choose among those 3).
+1 hope it also gets implemented in the android/ios apps
Yes, that was what I meant. Then I know it's an .nfo importer and not "live" at that moment so to speak. Can't believe a proper rating scraper and display in Plex has not already been fixed. If the stars worked as they should (no rounding problems etc) it would be OK to leave it for a while, but not now. You're talking about the rating at beginning of description?
