Personal ratings from IMDb/Metacritic/Rotten Tomatoes integration with Plex account

Rotten Tomatoes system of rating films and series is notorious for being misleading due to the way it achieves it’s percentage for the ratings. At the moment, Plex uses Rotten Tomatoes as their “critic rating” when the user chooses to sort their collection by critic rating.

I think it would be fantastic if we had the choice of which critic site to use (namely IMDb and/or Metacritic).

The cherry on top would be the ability to see our own personal ratings from these critic sites. Personally I have critiqued 1091 films on IMDb and would love to be able to sort my personal collection by my ratings from IMDb or at least to have this site as the basis for critique ratings instead of Rotten Tomatoes.

When editing your library, you can select which source to use for those ratings. You can select between RT, IMDb and The Movie Database.
... > Manage Library > Edit > Advanced > Rating Source

You might need to refresh metadata for the library after changing that setting

2022 clean-up:

  1. other rating sources can be set; depending on that source, it’ll be displayed as critic or audience rating → implemented
  2. existing thread on integration of your own ratings on a platform (IMDB integration) → duplicate
