[implement] Show results from all available libraries under Actor view, not just the current library

I’m not too worried on this front anymore to be totally honest. There’s a lot they need to do under the hood in order for this to actually work. But with the introduction of Discover and universal search / watchlist they should’ve (essentially) created a good baseline to add this. I mean, even on the official website this is now available so I would assume its only a matter of time before this is available for Discover, not sure where this will fall for the rest of the app though. Ofc this is just speculation as we don’t have a public roadmap, but I’m not too worried anymore.

+1 for this suggestion.
Many times it’s driving me nuts as I my content is spread over multiple libraries. Do it Plex!

Voted!!

+1 Here as well, Seems TV Shows and Movies should link actors… Guess years have passed and still not addressed!

Just adding my +1 to this. Pretty please?

+1. Dum spiro spero.

You can link the information about 9 different streaming services I can watch any movie on but you can’t link information across my libraries?

Collections and recently added are a similar situation. Linking a TV show and Movie should be easier and just because I change the location of a show by putting it in a new library doesn’t mean it’s “recently added”

I view Plex as a Universe with each library being a planet. They are separated but should all be considered connected in the ways that make curation easy and functional

I feel like right now every library is its own Universe

Definitely needs to be implemented, PLEX users have been asking for this feature well before 2017. Not sure why the resistance towards this request. It should be a simple search through all libraries by default.

It’s really annoying clicking on an actor in the movie or show you are watching, to know what else they play in, only to be given the Movies OR TV libraries? They are on the same server.

Anyway, I hope we can finally get this happening.

I came here specifically, hoping that this was already a feature. Please Plex get going on this.

+1 for me

I would also like to see that same view for Directors (eg. Steven Spielberg), Screenwriters (eg. Aaron Sorkin) and Film composer (eg. Hans Zimmer).

Other than the occasional but irritatingly frequent random re-assignment of poster images, this inability to click on the actor and see all their work across all libraries has been my users’ most frequent and enduring complaint about Plex. Hard to believe it has taken this long to get this addressed.

But it’s so much more important that searching for actual movies sends the data outside my server and fetches results from streaming services etc (Discover BETA)…

Voted. Was looking for something that would also address being able to get results by clicking on director, but I definitely would like to see my results for actors across libraries

Works now Guys!

No it does not. They added a cloud based feature implemented via search but have not added personal media scoped cast views which is what this feature request is.

Go to any movie or tv show within your personal library and click on any cast member and you will see its the same old library scoped casts…

I stand corrected, sorry.

This should work on both the Plex TV Series and Movie agents. If not try refresh the metadata.

Nope, done a full refresh this morning of all libraries. Selecting a cast within a movie still brings up the library scoped search. Example below from Jessica Chastain and you can see its scoped to movies …

Using search you can select under people to get the new results. Which BTW, I don’t want as it should be disabled based on my other disabled options on my account settings.

I stand corrected, sorry.

Are you using the bundled web app or the hosted web app?

Local App:

Hosted App:

-Shark2k

Hosted app, version 4.93.3

See that you have “Include adult content” disabled in the properties of each library. (Unless you have a library of actual pr0n).
