[implement] Show results from all available libraries under Actor view, not just the current library

Currently, if you view an actor in a Movie library, Plex will only show results from that library. Likewise for TV Show libraries.

It would be nice if when viewing an actor, results from all available libraries (libraries visible to user) would be used, grouping by library. This way you could see all TV Shows AND Movies for a given actor in one location.

I agree
I have wished the Actor Link would cross libraries as well.

Nice. I like the idea.

This is needed. Shame so few likes.

I posted a similar request: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/262219/combine-movie-and-tv-when-selecting-someone-in-cast-section-webapp

Yours is more general and better though.

this would be great, hope it gets more likes. kind of pointless to click an actor now as it only shows movies within the current library that they are in =[

+1 from me as well. This would be great!

+1 for me. Actually one of the reasons I installed Emby a few days ago – they do this really really nicely, puts Plex to shame IMHO. ( I also prefer the way they show actor pics, BTW, and they even have some biographical data.)

I totally agree! I just spent a hour trying to figure out why Bill Murray was not showing up in all his movies!

my post
Looking at a Movie's cast and seeing what other movie they are in does not work properly

There is no way I could train other members in the house on how to do a global search. It is intuitive to click on a cast member and see what else they are in.

I have my movie collection split into two library folders. One “Movies 4k” and the other “Movies”. I don’t want to click on a 4k move in the airport and be frustrated because it does not play as it has to be trans-coded first.

It would also be great for “Bill Murray” to show up in all the Saturday Night live episodes in TV which is in another Library.

+1, but I think people need to actually “vote” using the vote feature instead of typing +1. I"m showing a total of 3 votes including mine.

Funny that I often see people posting requests for this same feature, but those threads get closed because they are duplicates. However I don’t see the votes on this request increase in kind.

I think many people are confused by how the voting system works here, and/or have difficulty using the search feature. My guess is that this feature requests is more popular than its paltry 8 votes reflect.

Burned one of my precious ‘votes’ for this and, ya know, it’s funny, but when I need to find out how many movies I have with the great Bess Flowers (Queen of the bit part), across 17 movie libraries I have to use RARFlix for Roku.

The Funny part is RARFlix for Roku was developed by the guy now heading up Roku at Plex and you’d think since it has already been done and that guy is the guy that did it, we could get it done

You’d think that, but apparently you’d be wrong.

BTW: Vote at the big yellow button above. ‘Likes’ do nothing (about like Votes) and we like to see how many ‘Votes’ it’s gonna take to get something done. (lol)

I’d really like to have this feature. It’s not uncommon for actors to do both movies and TV-series and even dubbing. It’s a shame actor view can’t really show this.

Agreed. Also, I separate out certain libraries for sharing or for content types, and would love to be able to see all entries of a specific actor, etc. without having to use the global search up top.

It would be great if this feature was implemented. It could be set up where you click on an actor, Chris Pratt, for example and in one row you see the movies, Jurassic World, GotG, Avengers, etc and in the row under it you see TV shows, P&R, OC, Everwood etc.

This is a feature, I really expected would be available. As others have said, Actors do both TV and Movies, so it would be nice to just search a name and find all of their content easily. The fact that at the moment it splits searches by library is really clunky.

Oooh, this is worth moving a vote. Collections behave this way, and it’s nice. This would be a nice enhancement.

Ignored since then.

By all means move a Vote that isn’t doing anything where it is to here - where it won’t do anthing, but moving Votes IS doing something.

I feel better.
Don’t you?

It can have one of my remaining votes as well. Another user requested this just today; I’m not sure if they’ve added theirs yet.

To be fair, it doesn’t seem to be a very popular request, for having been around three and a half years.
