Ran into this last night (Nexus 5X on Nougat). As others have indicated, I had to first move the Plex app to the SD Card in Android Settings.
I’m confused. The 5x doesn’t have a SD slot! You mean through USB Otg?

You are right. I crossed devices (in my line of work, I have a dozen or so on hand). Above statement was NOT my Nexus 5X, but was my Moto X Pure.
+1 this is needed very urgently. Any news?
We’re certainly aware of the interest in being able to move the app (and associated information) to adoptable storage. It’s something we’re interested in being able to support in the future, but there are a number of considerations and (not immediately obvious) edge cases that need to be taken into account for it to be possible.

If you trust me, you can test the APK. After installation, you can change the location like any other App. (Settings> App settings>Plex>Location) I am thankful for any feedback.
The APK has been removed, sorry. We don’t allow distributing hacked/altered versions of our app like that.

Sorry @“Chris C”, instead to ask to yourself how and why a single user was able to fix it and you guys don’t … you prefer to cut the angel’s wings? Great!
Instead to ask him how he dit it and analyze his app to check how a single man solved the problem, you prefer to cut Rocco Siffredi’s brother.
70% of the apps in PlayStore allow this feature now, even stupid minigames. Why Plex don’t?
Is it possible for you to kindly explain about what “edge cases that need to be taken into account for it to be possible” you are talking, technically?
You are the first staff member joining this old conversation, after long time. Could you please try to explain what’s the problem?
Thanks in advance.

I certainly Ly understand that edge cases need to be taken into consideration, but I think pleasing 90% of the user base and fixing the edge cases after would make more sense then leaving everyone without a decent solution to this problem.
Another vote to make this happen. It’s a pain that all my other apps play nicely with adoptable storage and Plex is the ONLY thing holding me back from using it.
100% agree. Plex is the only app on my kids devices that keeps me from
being able to use adopted storage on the whole card. I use the work around
I posted a link to above to dual partition the card and split it with both
adopted and portable storage. This works, but wish I didn’t have to bother
with it. Also, I don’t know that all will be comfortable following the
steps.
Plex, please fix?
Marc
It seems it’s coming! https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1301656#Comment_1301656
this should have been implemented before it was even released
Plex for Android 5.2.0
Available on Google Play
[Sync] Add support for Adoptable Storage.
It is now done.
Early 2021 clean-up: implemented
