I’m glad to announce that version 5.2 of the app will (finally) include proper support for adoptable storage. Sorry it’s taken so long.
I am using 5.2.0.272 and under Settings>Sync>Sync Storage Location, I only have 1 option, internal storage.
Is there something that I am missing in order to utilize my adopted storage, or do I need to re-install and ‘change’ something?
Just a quick bump… @ManuelPG said that 5.2 would have fixed the ‘adoptable storage’ issue, but I have yet to see any changes. With the recent release of v5.2.0.376, we should have now seen this fix… right?
If adoptable storage is ‘fixed’ in this most recent version, then I need to report an ongoing bug…
In either case (it is or isn’t fixed/released…), can we get some sort of notification on the status? Not a release date, just something to let us know either way?

I think you misunderstand adoptable storage. It appears as internal storage to the app.
You know, it is partially correct… I went back in and reviewed the Plex settings further, and found that I can access up to 18.6GB via the ‘internal storage’. The phone (GS5) only has true available internal storage of 11.17GB with adoptable storage (available) of 19.5GB, so it would appear that the Plex App defaults to listing adoptable storage as internal storage. Now that is the only option in the sync storage location as well, so the app does/can not use the full capabilities of the options, in that if adoptable storage is available, it will only let you sync to that location and not to the ‘true’ internal storage.
Good catch, but it still is confusing, and I ‘get’ it…

I’m pretty sure that’s how is meant to be. When using adoptable storage, you don’t get internal + external, external (adopted) becomes internal and the apps can’t see/use the actual internal storage. At least that’s what I read a while back.

Not so…
Adoptable storage formats your microSD card as a part of the system using the Ext4 file system and 128-bit AES encryption. This new partition becomes part of the system and the primary storage location for app data. Where before you might only have had 10-12GB of storage available on a “16GB” phone, you could have around 70GB if you adopt a 64GB microSD card. Data will be distributed to the card and internal storage automatically; no mucking around in file managers.
In other words, if you “adopt” an SD card, it makes your phone’s storage space that much bigger, instead of just adding a separate pool of storage space.
