[Implemented] Fully Disable Discover & search results from Streaming Services (More Ways To Watch)

Okay but how about you just add a server-side toggle? Make it Plex Pass only if you’re concerned about losing the ad revenue. We already pay for Plex Pass, do you really need more money?

It is not a server feature. One does not need a server at all to use it.

Isn’t that also true for the other online media sources which DO have toggles? Why can we just have the same for this?

I believe that is also at the account level, and not actually at the server level. Sure, you can toggle those… but you’re not disabling it for your Mom and Dad.

Account level toggle would at least let me make an account and have it off for that account.

Yup, account level.

Which is why for my Mom, especially since I support everything for her remotely, I created the account with my own email address so I could configure it for her.

I’m ok with account level personally, Discover should be part of Online Media Seources anyway in my opinion.

I would love to vote for this but I’m out of votes. Limited number of votes & nothing I’ve voted for has been worked on so I’m stuck with nothing left.

You can actually withdraw votes!

If something else is a far lower priority for you, you can click on the little yellow “voted” button near its thread title, and it’ll pull yours and free one up. I had to do the same thing.

Nice to know, @bigwheel, thx.
But the “disable” feature could very well be a server feature - or an account feature.

This absolutely needs to be a thing. Just like all the other features we can turn off.

Just to put this in perspective. Many people like the discover feature so just to ensure this stays and rolled out with more features. Fully respect persons who wants to disable but I really think this is one of the best steps Plex made.

I’m in the camp for whom a toggle on the Search function alone is not sufficient.

Anything less than the ability to disable (entirely) the Discover service on the server is unacceptable.

And you should be able to have it!

And I should be able to turn it off. That is what is being asked for. Especially since it was broken at release and not respecting its own parental controls features.

This. Parental Controls are a must. I may have to move on if this doesn’t get addressed. I want to turn all of Discover off. I have no use for it.

I use this docker image “plexinc/pms-docker:latest”, Using nothing but default server options, I have not signed up for any beta and its on my system.

That’s exactly what it is, they are not trying to hide that fact as far as I can tell

So currently more than 400 users (most Plexpass) that have voted yes for this.

Associated with those more than 400 users are many more clients running off servers.

I remember that Reddit poll last year (when the content aggregation job at Plex was posted), the votes were split but the biggest number of votes was undecided.

What Plex does next will impact those ‘voters’.

I wish I could vote more than once for this

I may well suggest my users vote for it and perhaps other PMS owners should do the same … it won’t make any difference though.

I used to like plex but they only make new useless features instead of working on the feature requests. I think I might try embi. It started with arcade mode(what a joke already retired the whole thing).
