This is something they've promised back in 2012. No amount of likes or votes are actually going to have them implement this basic feature. It doesn't take 3+ years to implement this feature, I don't care what they say.
gapless playback is a Must! +1
I don't know if bumping is allowed or not, but it's the best way to get people to see an older post that has slipped from the first page. I figure as long as one doesn't do it too much...
Just make sure you 'like' the original post.
plex - please make this happen.
i've used a lot of competing frameworks, and your interface gives you a huge usability advantage.
but you need to attend the music functionality - in particular, the absence of gapless playbacK (IOS).
I'm a lifer... JUST DO IT.
bah! just picked up the new periphery albums and the lack of gapless playback is killing me. when I think about its probably my number one wanted feature. I’m holding out hope for this to be in the allegedly upcoming PMS music update.
MUST HAVE! No question about it ...
(Remember: If you like to vote for this feature, you have to "LIKE" the INITIAL (!) post)
Above posters have said that Plex Home Theatre supports gapless playback. Is there some setting that I have to enable? I'm not getting it. I'm using the new plex music and connecting into my iTunes library. I've verified that the album (Abbey Road) plays gapless in iTunes on the same machine (Mac Mini, OS X 10.10).

Maybe they're referring to the cross fade option. Which can be set to 1 sec. Which is pretty close to gapless playback.Above posters have said that Plex Home Theatre supports gapless playback. Agree this should be filed as a bug since plex is not playing back music properly.
Gapless playback means so much to me that I will +2 it!
Come on dudes, you can't seriously listen to a Pink Floyd album with the gaps!
Ill up the ante and +3 it.
Also from me.. +1
At the very least, Plex should allow us to download the mp3 files for albums and playlists via the iOS/Android apps so that a proper music player that has gapless playback can play the music, but plex can manage the content. At the moment, Plex sync hides the content away so no other app can access it.
Actually, I was about to ask… Did they introduce gapless playback into PHT in the recent update??
Not as far as I can tell, unless there is a setting I’ve missed.

Try downloading the latest version of PHT from the site, the auto update doesn't always work.
I can confirm gapless playback is working in PHT now (at least mostly, some transitions have a tiny hiccup but its hardly noticeable).
Update: I was wrong. It is ALMOST gapless now. The transition between Tool's "Parabol" and "Parabola" is a very good test for this, and it is definitely not smooth enough to be called gapless.
No gapless playback, per Elan. See his response to my question below.
Pretty straightforward question: does the latest iteration of PMS support gapless playback of albums?
Not yet, that's more of a client-side thing, and quite a bit of work across all the different player stacks :)
It's definitely something we've identified as being of interest!

I was drawing attention to the fact that gapless playback has been introduced into the Plex Home Theater (PHT) client. As Elan said, it is a client issue not involving PMS. For those who use PHT as their primary client for playing music, it is a happy day. For everyone else, nothing has changed.
