Is this so hard? This is a feature that has been requested on multiple forums for 6+ years and is available on pretty much every other platform out there. As an example of where this is required, if anyone else out there watches “Gardening Australia” you would understand that the only way to watch it is at 1.3x or more, since all the presenters talk soooo slow. I have Plex DVR, but I don’t use it simply because I can’t control the playback speed of anything I record - so I’m stuck using my old Panasonic DVR which ties me to the TV it is attached to, very inconvenient. The fact that we haven’t heard a peep from Plex about this in such a long time, just shows they don’t give a stuff about improving the existing experience at all. I know this post won’t make any difference, but I just wanted to add my vote anyway because I’m heavily invested in Plex and have been for years, but still silly things like this keep me needing to bypass it and use other tools.
I use 1.25x and 1.5x to play youtube videos. There are plenty of TV shows (and movies) where I’d like to boost the speed too just to get through them. My weeks are busy (even with this quarantine nonsense) and I don’t have hours to spend sitting in front of the TV or iPad.
Please, Plex, add a playback tempo mechanism so we can control speed from 0.1x up to 4x in 0.1x increments (or similar).
7 years of requests and 200 posts should be adequate to get this prioritized.
For Audiobooks speed @ 1.4 is my normal. I can’t stand listening @ normal 1x speed. Having a full fledged Audiobook player/support would be awesome.
Really? LOL – True Audiobook support has more, but honestly they are linked. Video playback speed I can see as difficult, but audiobook I don’t.
Voted for this. I watch most of my youtube videos at 1.25-1.5 just to get through them faster. I usually watch shows on VLC at 1.1-1.25 similary. All my lectures I watch at 1.5 or higher.
Got Plex pass to support the development, and this is my #1 wish.
This is very important for me as well, I use mostly Plex for watching training videos that are synchronized between all my devices and without being able to watch at 1.5 speed, I am loosing a lot of time…
Agreed, this is just ridiculous. I generally really like Plex, but the way they ignore their community requests for features is so frustrating.
What? This is a joke! I just did a 1 month plex pass to check out the DVR and was going to switch, but playback speeds (at least 1.25, 1.5, and 2 at a bare minimum) are not negotiable. Deal breaker. I was looking at getting a lifetime pass but glad I saw this first, gives me time to turn off the auto renew and search for a different option. This is basic functionality!
I would use Plex a whole lot more if this feature is enabled. Most online video has this now, youtube, Ted talk, even my corporate training site. Every video playback apps that I use also has this feature: VLC, BSPlayer, MX Player, nPlayer, Kodi, etc. 5 years ago when this request was initiated, this may be a novel feature. Nowadays it’s a must have.
+several million from me. I use this feature in Youtube, VLC, even going back to TCMP on my Qtek S100 in 2005 to listen to audiobooks, watch lectures and documentaries. Really doesn’t seem like a difficult task. At least implement it for common apps, such as Android, if not for the more obscure platforms - please!

Plex Team: Please give us a statement about your plans regarding that topic. Especialy in times of E-Learning due to Corona Virus this feature is highly needed.
This would be fantastic to see, after watch together supporting desktop this is the thing I want most from Plex!
I now use a plugin for this, but a version by Plex would even be better. Especially on the Plex Windows apps and mobile apps.
I now use Plex web with video speed controller to do this
I feel like I’ve been double let down today, I synced an audio book and find Plex didn’t have 1.5x speed so I grabbed another app and found I don’t have access to the files. At least give me something here!

I have a Plex library to manage and access a series of tutorial videos. Library type Personal Media Shows works very nicely – and even better when I add metadata to media using Subler (macOS). It would be great if I could play videos at a faster speed using a Plex app to accelerate learning. A faster playback speed is especially useful for review/catch-up.

Yes please add this! The only way I have seen devs reply is to create a new thread, include version info, reference this thread and ask dev if this is ever going to be a priority.
