[implemented] Playback Speed

Yeah I saw it after I posted. Thanks. I installed Emby for my training videos. It does work well but I like Plex better so at this point, I’m running both. I will drop Emby if Plex ever decides to implement this much needed feature.

Has plex commented on this feature yet?
I’m excited to see this become available. I hope it’s easy to implement

How do I vote?

Anyway I’m flabbergasted this isn’t a standard feature. Ideally for the android clients.

press the vote button on the top of the post
its been like 8years since this was requested though and even though there were like 300-400votes in the past 3years alone it doesnt seem to be able to make it…

it’s really sad that this feature has been requested since at least 2014. and the feature has become very common among video players. there are browser extensions that allow it but it should be in plex itself on all platforms, especially so video+audio can be sped up more conveniently when using plex on a platform that can’t use a browser extension, like my tv lol

While I’ve long been as perplexed by this ongoing issue as everyone else, a thought recently occurred to me.

Is it possible that Plex is restricted from adding this feature universally by some of its licensing arrangements, whatever they may be? Probably unlikely but surely there’s some reason other than just having weird feature priorities??

Either way, it’s very silly that we have (afaict) complete radio silence on the topic from Plex itself.

Pleeeeease just add the feature or tell us why you don’t want to.

How have I paid 120 Bucks for the Lifetime Pass but still cant watch my stuff on 1.5 etc.? How even? This aint even funny anymore…I sure can understand that there could be problems for individual server-performance but why arent there not even updates or comments on this?
Pleeease Pleeease, WE NEED THIS FEATURE!

I hope Plex will respond to us on this, this feature is absolutely crucial for many of us. It’s the 7th top voted pending idea.

The top voted idea has some replies from Plex employees, so if you’re reading this and you want this feature, please vote! Every vote counts!

I am seriously considering switching to emby since I am a new user to plex before it wastes me more time to invest in a media server system that lacks the crucial feature. jellyfin is still hard to use, hope emby would be easier to use

It’s been 8 years since the original feature request. Seems like it will never happen.

Here’s another +1 on this.

+1,
Why such a simple function has not been realized after 8 years,Emby has implemented this feature and it has received 100% praise. Can plex developers pay attention to the needs of users (in addition to the issue of ass subtitles in Android)

Absolutely need this feature. Please create it in a way that user can do any arbitrary speed such as 1.2x. It is super useful in watching video lectures, tutorials, you know speakers tend to speak slowly

This is a 7 year old thread requesting the ability to adjust playback speed, which is a pretty common feature today, but there doesn’t appear to be a single response from a Plex rep in this thread? This is very disappointing.

Do we know if they are even looking into this?

Please, Plex, add this feature to your mobile apps! We need this!

Their lack of response is absolutely infuriating. We have waited years for this, complied with their rules and voted this item to one of the top items. and are summarily ignored.
