Plex Media Server DESPERATELY needs this feature. (Like YouTube has) increase playback speed by 1.1x, 1.2x, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2x, would be awesome!
It needs to be implemented on acroos all platforms supporting Plex, like Web client, Smart TV, Android, iOS, etc.
Not going to make a difference but I also would very much appreciate this feature.
This is a must for a lot of people…
Please consider to workd harder on this
I would be much appreciated if playback speed is available on different clients, both iOS and Android.
thank you very much!
I would love to retire my TiVo and switch fully to Plex DVR, but “QuickMode” really is a killer feature for me.
Zero expectation that Plex will attend to this request, since they’re primarily interested in adding an endless supply of low quality media sources that we all turn off immediately, but I wanted to post here to perhaps give others a path to satisfaction whilst we wait to see if it’s going to be Emby or Jellyfin that ends up eating Plex’s lunch:
Had a need for variable speed playback (the spouse watches a bunch of educational videos and prefers to be able to do that at 2x) with an AppleTV client.
Tried the Infuse route, but no joy there. It can play back at > 1x speeds, but navigation of Plex libraries By Folder isn’t supported, so it’s a no-go for the video content we want to watch as it has no associated metadata.
I ended up trying VLC (free, opensource, and available for most platforms) and am happy to say that it was successful at being able to navigate By Folder and to playback content at anywhere from 1x to 4x on the AppleTV.
Had to save my Plex credentials in VLC to be able to successfully open a connection to my Plex server (which is on my local network), but once I had, it was smooth sailing.
Hopefully that will help someone else with this functional need that Plex has ignored for 8 years, in favor of, uh, ad-ridden B-movie streaming.
Am I bitter re: Plex?
No, I love Plex.
I just don’t care for the leadership decisions from the organization these past few years, and am anxious for an alternative solution to mature such that they encourage the market to vote for a change in that leadership. <3
I wonder whether Plex is even paying attention or working on this, an update would be nice.
It’s a shame on plex!
This feature has been requested constantly since 2014, 7 god damn years. Where is this feature?
Yes, please implement this feature!!! Right now I have the premium pass but it’s useless because I cant playback faster my videos on the plex server!!! Please implement it already!
You have many request for this feature!!!
I want to reiterate my desire for this feature, especially for mobile. YouTube, Netflix and Jellyfin all have playback speed options built in. Sometimes I want to watch a Movie or TV Show faster, the same way I do when I listen to a podcast. I have actually started using Jellyfin on my phone specifically to do this, and on Plex Web I use a Chromecast add-on that allows me to playback video faster there. This feature needs to be implemented natively into Plex, it has been requested since 2014, it is time to finally do it! Thank you.
Jellyfin has it too.,
Voted on that feature, I really enjoy that feature, but dislike the web app so Chrome Extensions are off the table.
Make it a plexpass feature if need be but bring the capability!
Thanks @dannymalt , I wasn’t aware of Jellyfin. I think I’ll try that out. I really, really want to play back some videos faster.
Plex stopped playing HDR on my 4K TV and even playing in 1080p (built-in Roku on TCL TV). Tonemapping is not great either, but I guess that’s always a problem.
I hate having to load videos on my phone manually to watch things when I have Plex & a pass member.
+1 we need this
+1 please allow us to adjust playback speed, even if on a few clients to start off with.
Please implement this, even if it’s locked behind Plex Pass!!
please plex gods.
How many more years does Plex want us to wait for this feature? 5? 10? 20?
