Please add this! I love to watch TV shows at 1.5X speed. We don’t have more spare time to watch TV shows slowly like in the old days now. The speed-up playback is a very important function for me, a TV show lover but not have much spare time.

No technical reason. I, and others wrote up implementations for this years ago. Unfortunately Plex is closed source and does not allow for contributions from outside contributors.
There are javascript hacks for the Plex web Player. And you can use Kodi on your Fire stick to do this as well with my implementation here.

How is this not an option yet? It is 2022 and pretty much everything has this as an option at this point.

not a serious question but: how do you cancel a prepaid lifetime Plex pass?
sucks that this still hasnt been implemented yet but I have long gotten the feeling that voices are not being heard… decisions are probably made “smarter” with analytics to calculate what users want or what increases the userbase and winnings

It’s a pity that such a basic feature which also should not be hard to implement is still being ignored. There are loads of videos that I watch at 1.5x or 2.0x. Currently I open those in Kodi or VLC and then mark the video as “watched” in Plex afterwards. So inconvenient.

I was going to buy a plex pass until I realized this basic feature wasn’t a thing. Going to hold off until this is implemented, if it ever is.

Wow, sucks to see this is not a feature yet, just after I bought Plex Pass too!
I guess I could re-encode all my content to 2x and have a separate library just for that? Seems kind of wasteful…

looks like the Infuse app for iOS will work, and correctly sync the metadata (like watch progress). will report back if this solution does not work
infuse 7 app requires ios 14 or newer… I’m still running 13.3.1 for my jailbreak, so this won’t work for me
edit: managed to install AppStore++ and then a lower version of infuse that works with my iOS version.
Hopefully one day I can use the native plex app
Another edit: shame infuse can’t transcode content… not really feasible to stream the original content over 4G to my device… maybe now I use ffmpeg to store a mobile-friendly version? May as well just encode it to the speed I want at this point…
I would love to have the option for playback speed increase on Smart TV’s and Android phones! Please, please add soon
