[implemented] Playback Speed

Added my vote. I can’t believe people have been requesting this trivial feature since 2014 and staff can’t even be bothered to respond.

Please add this feature

I decided to take the App Review path to get some additional visibility… And yes, Plex team, total intentional pressure on it! Please, feel free to follow and add your review as well.

For movies and tv shows 1.25 and 1.5x make slow tv shows great. I’m currently trying to make it through The Last of Us. I need speed.

This one has been on the list since (at least) 2014. At this point I’m wondering if it is faster to become a sw developer, work at Plex and implement the changes myself.

If you are in PC, you can download the “Video Speed Controller” chrome/ brave/ opera/ edge/ chromium extension. I’ll allow you to change the video playback speed.

Plex devs can suck it at this point. Since the amount of votes doesn’t matter then who tf decides where the product goes? Some dumb group of idiots who have no clue what plex is for, judging by the crap content shoveled in our faces that we disable anyway. Good going.

Let’s curb it down. You can disagree with Plex focus / developments but please drop the insulting.

As for the meaning of votes:

From Please Read: Before submitting a feature Suggestion

Feature request voting provides us with a guide to help plan and prioritize development. As there are a variety of factors that go into this, we can’t guarantee a feature request will get implemented based on votes and posts alone.

The most voted feature requests don’t automatically “win” or guarantee they will be implemented. If something is just never going to happen (like ISO support) we will let you know. There are other considerations outside of these forum feature requests that are taken into account.

Sorry, what I said was not to incite hate nor provoke people. Please don’t take the thread that way.

It’s just that… it has been so long with this thread open, that this system of voting almost looks like it is not taken into account some times.

Replying to keep this thread bumped, we’re still waiting for an update on any progress

I desperately need this feature. Sometimes I need to watch soap operas at multiple speeds.

Now that you made skipping credits how about some basic functions like playback speed?

lol, such a great feature… let’s skip credits… I skip them by hitting my back button or just close down the show and go to the next one I want to watch… one that’s actually worthwhile would be playback speed. I watch most youtube videos at 1.5x because sometimes it just moves too slowly.

I can’t believe after years of requests by hundreds of users, this is still being ignored. This is basic functionality that most major players have, including Netflix.

For this reason, I use Plex for my media library, but not as a player, even though I have Plex Pass. I use an app called InFuse (Mac OS and IOS only) that can act as a front end for Plex (as well as any media storage) and has adjustable playback speed.

Another ping for a playback speed feature.

Have gotten spoiled with Video Player ( on Google Play) with its speed settings, plus its invisible left slider (brightness) and right slider (vol).

I humbly would like to add my +1 to this feature request.

The real demands of users can’t be seen. This functional requirement has existed for a long time, and the official seems not to want to realize it.

Plus one here. I would really love to use Plex to watch educational videos both on my TV or Android when not at home but it’s frustrating to watch them at regular speed. It’s the single reason I haven’t upgraded to the pass yet.

Another voice to this thread. I’d love to have this on roku / firestick apps. I currently have jellyfin setup just for this feature, for all the hassle it’s worth I am thinking of migrating across totally, but I love plex and everything it’s offered for the past 5+ years for me.

I’m glad I finally decided to check this thread. I’ve wanted this for years and I’m glad to find out now that there are alternatives, Emby and Jellyfin, that support this feature.

slow speeds would be very useful for language learning .25, .50, .75 options as well.
