Amazing this has not been attended to and yet there is a google extension that enables this feature on browsers
Fair enough, let’s keep it nice and respectful. Thank you for reminding us how your product prioritization work, now let me explain to you in the very same way how customer satisfaction works: the sheer amount of features you push does not automatically “win” customers or guarantee they will be happy. If your customers don’t give s**t about your updates, satisfaction is never going to happen, and we are definitely letting you know in this thread if you can listen. There are other considerations outside of these forum feature requests that are taken into account by your customers (for example your competitors’ product list of features, and how they compare against your closed and badly communicated roadmap). Also, let me add a quick suggestion to you folks: if instead of writing pointless and rather dumb explanations about “how things are supposed to work” you mind explaining why you are ignoring pretty popular and hot requests, I think you’ll achieve your goal to “curb it down” a lot quicker. Now let me update my Plex app review with another 1 star review across the stores: because you know… this is how things work.
To be clear: I love Plex and feel that the PlexPass is one of the best investments I’ve ever made.
Playback speed is definitely the #1 missing feature for me. I can imagine many reasons why it would be difficult to provide this across the board (for example, third-party streaming services probably aren’t set up for it).
But I mostly use Plex for my personal media library, so for me that’s where I really want this feature. (I also use Plex on Android / nVidia Shield, so I’m not interested in web-player hacks.) My wife refuses to use Plex to watch our media on her laptop precisely because there’s no playback speed control.
I still think Plex is the best, but given the stated goal of being the sine qua non of media players, I’m saddened that this feature is still unavailable.
It has been nine years.
I’ll “curb it down” when they answer US after NINE YEARS. Don’t you think that’s a reasonable amount of time to wait for a reply? Nine years?
Yes or no?
Holy crap!
Why is that so hard?
" we can’t guarantee a feature request will get implemented based on votes and posts alone."
That’s fine. Just friggin throw us a bone. Stop ignoring a simple, direct, request from your customers that literally pay for Plex. If it’s no, say no. If it’s yes, say yes.
We have robots driving around Mars, yet can’t get speed in plex. It’s maddening that you won’t even reply.
And not a ‘ninja’. An actual employee.
Enough of the crappy customer service!
Stop hiding behind forums and mods and chat boxes.
Just a YES or NO.
“We love hearing from you and we are always looking for ideas to make Plex more awesome.”
I wish you’d love replying, too.
Another vote for playback speed controls. While this would have been of little interest to me a couple of years ago, now having experienced it on other platforms (Netflix , YouTube) it’s such a useful feature fo the family.
+1 vote for this!
I don’t need playback speed. But hoping for a good bump for Plex employees to know that they can implement super popular requested features even if they don’t need them themselves.
@elan The wait for excessively desired features is over. Employees really need to start implementing some forms of the most requested features. Heck, if we can get the most half-assed implementation of “Editions”, then we can definitely get version 1 of this lol. At over 9 years, this is becoming a joke.
Voting +1
+1,这个提议从2014年开始,马上 2024年,10年了 ,社社区的声音完全被忽略了。
倍速播放对于查看回放、网络课程视频的学习非常有必要。
Dear Plex, we are still here!
Bi-annual bump “still alive, please implement” bump! ![]()
Let’s dream that one day LMG highlights this feature request!
Need playback speed control, please
+1000. Have been waiting 10 yrs and counting for this highly requested feature
I’m wondering why we expect that they will implement this anytime soon if there have passed already 9 years since the first request.
I’ve been using Jellyfin just for this feature, but personally, I prefer Plex functionality.
+1 on this
what is the go with this… it would be nice if someone at plex could update if this in on the horizon or not…
There’s already a way to change playback speed on HTPC and Plex Web, but there’s still no way to do it with Plex for Mac/Win/Android?
+1 on this
I have written some scripts myself to implement playback speed control on Plex for Windows/Mac/Linux and Plex HTPC for Windows/Mac/Linux. Here is the project address.
But still, I wish all plex clients could support playback speed control. We really need this.
